Concert Co-Op strongly believes in the need for citizens to become educated about issues and to get involved in the democratic process. That's why The Co-Op is working to bring venues, bands, and volunteers together for nonpartisan voter registration.

Effective, nonpartisan activism

Nonpartisan registration appeals have been proven the most effective at getting people to register. By using this approach, the negative rhetoric that turns off many potential voters is avoided. The added benefit for venues and bands is that a simple appeal to register is non-divisive, and focuses the audience on a clear goal they can achieve right at the show.

Venues + bands + volunters = voters

Concert Co-Op links venues, bands, and fans by pulling together all of the community's concert listings. In order to help register voters, The Co-Op is finding venues and bands that want to help register voters, and linking them up with volunteers that want to go to the shows. Here’s how it works:

Venues register

Venues interested in helping with the project mark in their Concert Co-Op profile that they are willing to host voter registration volunteers. It’s as easy as allowing them on-site, and can go as far as providing space, tables, signage locations, and admission.

Bands register

Bands also mark in their Concert Co-Op profiles that they’d like to help. Band participation is as simple as mentioning on-stage that voter registration volunteers are in the building, encouraging fans to register to vote, and reminding them to re-register if they’ve moved.

Volunteers pick shows

Just like all Concert Co-Op members, voter registration volunteers mark shows on The Co-Op that they’re interested in attending. When volunteers want to go to shows where both the venue and the bands have expressed interest, voter registration coordinators will make arrangements with the venue for volunteers to attend the show.
