Privacy policy

General

For the definitive word on privacy and all Concert Co–Op policies, see The Concert Co–Op Terms of Use. Concert Co–Op reserves the right to change its usage terms at any time, so please check it if you have any questions.

Concert Co–Op takes your privacy (and that of your friends, associates, and contacts) seriously. The Co–Op will not disclose your or your associates' email addresses to third parties unless clearly specified, and every precaution is taken to keep that data secure.

The information below will give you an overview of the different levels of anonymity you can choose for your presence on The Co–Op. Understanding how you are viewed by other members of The Co–Op and by general Internet users will allow you to make the best choices regarding your identity and safety.

Members

Public vs private names

Members of The Co–Op have two names; public and private. It is important to understand how these names and your account information are protected and shared.

Your private name is visible only to your friends and their immediate friends. If your private name is left blank, your email address will be used, and it will be visible only to your friends, not to the friends of your friends.

Your public name is visible to anyone on The Co–Op, and is displayed when you write reviews. If your public name is left blank, your reviews will be submitted anonymously, and there will be no link to your profile.

If you wish to remain anonymous, your public name should give no indication of your identity.

Email address

Your email address is visible only to your immediate friends, and is how The Co–Op contacts you.

Co–Op URL

The Co–Op URL is the URL used to access your member page. If you wish to stay anonymous, pick a URL that gives no indication of your identity. If Co–Op URL is left blank, a random number will be assigned in its place.

Reviewer & Image settings

In your Reviewer settings and your Image settings, the information you set for Public email address, Web site, and Description is public and visible to any general Internet user. If you wish to remain anonymous, your information should give no indication of your identity.

One way to protect your identity while still promoting your work publicly would be to provide an anonymous email address to screen contacts.

History, ratings, and reviews

The history of shows you've attended, and your ratings of bands, venues, and albums are visible to all of your friends.

Your pick history, blog posts, reviews, and ratings are visible to general Internet users if you have a public name set on your account. If you wish to remain anonymous, be aware that none of these, or the pattern they create, should indicate your identity.

Images, videos, and audio

Images, videos, and audio are visible to general Internet users. Again, if you wish to remain anonymous, be aware that none of these, or the pattern they create, should indicate your identity.

Performers

Unless otherwise indicated, information provided for performer profiles is shared publicly. One major exception is the email address or addresses used to register the member accounts, which is kept private.

If members of groups have created individual performer accounts, the performer names on those accounts will be used on blog posts for the group. If they haven't created individual performer accounts, the name provided on the group member list will be used.

Performer accounts do not provide links back to their associated user accounts.

Ratings and show picks from a user account are visible through the performer account, but do not necessarily indicate what individual member of the group made them.

Venues

Unless otherwise indicated, information provided for venue profiles is shared publicly. One major exception is the email address or addresses used to register the member accounts, which is kept private.

The name provided on the venue member list will be used on blog posts for the group is the member has not set a public name. Otherwise the public name will be used.

Venue accounts do not refer back to their associated user accounts.

Ratings and show picks from a user account are visible through the venue account, but do not necessarily indicate what individual member of the group made them.
